Islamabad: The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) confirmed on Friday that foreign tourists in Astore, an area recently struck by flash floods, are safe and not in proximity to the affected zones.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had instructed the NDMA to safeguard the tourists and ensure the local population’s protection from any potential issues arising from the floods.
In its report to the Prime Minister, the NDMA outlined its prompt response to his directives, including measures taken to ensure the safety of the foreign visitors. The report specified that two Italian tourists and one Argentinian tourist were secure and situated away from the flood-affected areas.
Efforts are also underway to expedite the restoration of the Feena Bridge, a critical infrastructure impacted by the floods. The NDMA, along with other relevant agencies, is actively monitoring the situation and remains prepared to handle any emergencies that may arise.
