Islamabad: Google, the world’s leading search engine, has made significant changes to its search algorithms to address and reduce the visibility of inappropriate deepfake videos and images.

According to Wired, there has been growing pressure on Google to remove such deepfake content. The company received numerous requests worldwide to take action, which prompted these changes.

The report indicates that Google has adjusted its search algorithms to minimize the presence of deepfake content. As a result, inappropriate deepfake videos and images are now less prominent in search results.

Recently, Google faced criticism for displaying explicit deepfake videos and images of celebrities like Jennifer Aniston and Taylor Swift in top search results. This backlash led to increased demands for improved content moderation.

Under the new changes, users searching for deepfake content featuring notable figures are now more likely to encounter alternative results. Google now provides links to news articles and reports about deepfake content or offers warnings about such materials.

Google experts recognize that completely eliminating deepfake content is challenging. However, they have succeeded in pushing such content further down the search results, making it harder to find.
