Trump Announces Debate with Harris on September 4

Washington: Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump announced late Friday that he has agreed to a debate with Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris on September 4, as confirmed through his Truth Social platform.
The details of Harris’s participation have yet to be clarified.
The announcement follows Harris’s recent securing of the Democratic party’s presidential nomination, with her candidacy now confirmed for the November election.
This development comes after President Biden, 81, withdrew his candidacy on July 21, endorsing Harris instead amid concerns about his age and declining polling numbers. Biden’s withdrawal followed a poor debate performance against Trump on CNN in June.
A second debate between Trump and Biden was initially scheduled for September 10 on ABC television.
However, with Biden’s exit from the race, Harris is expected to replace him in the debate, which Trump’s spokesman, Steven Cheung, deemed “inappropriate” to schedule before Harris’s official nomination.
Trump’s post provided details about the debate venue and moderators, confirming that it will be held before a full audience.
