Quetta:The Balochistan government has issued orders to file a First Information Report against the mine owner due to alleged negligence resulting in the tragic death of eleven coal miners in the Najdi area of the province.

The incident occurred when the miners suffocated while working deep within the mine, situated approximately 40 km from Quetta.

As per Shahid Rind, spokesman for the Balochistan Government, the Mines and Minerals department has sent a letter to the relevant police station to initiate legal action against the mine owner, following the government’s instructions.

Mir Shoaib Noshairwani, Minister of the Mines and Minerals department in Balochistan, expressed dismay over the repeated reminders given to mine owners to ensure safety measures are implemented.

Despite directives to install gas meters to monitor poisonous gas levels, the mine owners neglected the issue, resulting in the tragic loss of lives. It’s worth noting that the installation of gas meters is mandatory for safety purposes.

In response to the incident, the Chief Commissioner of Mines in Balochistan has been tasked with inspecting the mines and submitting a report detailing the implemented safety measures.
