Red Alert: District Authorities Intensify Fight Against Dengue

Multan: The district administration issued a dengue virus red alert on Friday after a large number of cases surfaced in the last few days due to the change in weather conditions.

Deputy Commissioner Rizwan Qadeer directed health department officials to go out in the field and take all necessary measures to control the spread of dengue. He also warned of strict action against any negligence.

While chairing a meeting with health officials to review the steps taken to eliminate dengue larvae and initiatives, Qadeer emphasised the need to pay special attention to disposing of indoor larvae at domestic and commercial sites.

Meanwhile, DC also ordered third-party checks to monitor the activities of the field staff.

Qadeer urged the citizens to adopt precautionary measures to avoid dengue mosquitoes.

Rizwan stated that the district administration is collecting data from private hospitals’ laboratories to compile an accurate record of dengue patients. He added that assistant commissioners have also been given the task of special checking.

Meanwhile, Punjab remains in the clutches of the dengue outbreak as 219 new cases were recorded on Friday.

According to the latest Health Department data, a total of 11,188 confirmed dengue cases have been reported across 36 districts in Punjab this year. Currently, 146 dengue patients are undergoing treatment in various hospitals across Punjab, with 91 of them in Lahore district hospitals.

The situation continues, with Sahiwal reporting four dengue cases, Sialkot and Vehari with three each. Meanwhile, Sheikhupura, Attock, Narowal, Okara, Khanewal, Bahawalpur, Toba Tek Singh and Mandi Bahauddin each reported one case of dengue within 24 hours. Additional input from APP.
