5th Case Of Mpox In KP: Health Department

Peshawar: Pakistan recorded its fifth case of Mpox virus in Peshawar, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa on Wednesday. Health department informed that a 33 years old person arrived in Pakistan on September 7 from a Gulf country via Islamabad international airport.
The individual visited Peshawar and was later referred to Khyber teaching hospital from private clinic.
For laboratory tests against Mpox virus, samples were collected from the patient and the same were dispatched to public health reference laboratory, which issued confirmation today about the presence of the virus.
The District Health Officer (DHO) has kept him in home quarantine at Lower Dir.
His situation is improving while his family has been instructed on ways to prevent spreading it further.
As for now, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Health Syed Qasim Ali Shah shows concern regarding screening at Islamabad International Airport where the patient was not found with Mpox virus infection.
It should be noted that all four of the previous instances of Mpox virus documented in KP have been healed and freed from the disease after receiving therapy.
