581 Police Recruits Complete Training at Police College Sihala

Rawalpindi: Police College Sihala on Monday held a passing-out parade for constable drivers and police band personnel, marking the completion of training by 581 recruits.

Additional Inspector General (Training) Punjab, Mahboob Aslam Lillah, attended the ceremony as the chief guest. A total of 531 constable drivers and 50 band personnel successfully completed their training programmes.

Police contingents presented a ceremonial salute to the chief guest, while band training officers showcased their skills through musical performances. Officers securing top positions in their respective courses were awarded shields and prizes.

Addressing the ceremony, Additional IG Mahboob Aslam Lillah congratulated the passing-out officers and appreciated the administration of Police College Sihala for successfully conducting the training. He said that in the modern era, police effectiveness depends largely on timely response and safe mobility.

He praised Inspector General of Police Punjab, Dr Usman Anwar, for personally ensuring efficiency in police stations and training institutions across the province. He added that the high training standards reflected the professionalism of the college’s commandant and thanked the IG Punjab for providing quality facilities at training centres.

Commandant Police College Sihala, Ashfaq Ahmed Khan, said the training was conducted on modern lines, with special focus on stress and anger management, safe driving, and VIP security procedures. He emphasised that professional training is the backbone of effective operational policing.

Established in 1959, Police College Sihala is Pakistan’s largest police training institution. The commandant said that over 100,000 officers and staff from various institutions have received training at the college so far, with programmes centred on discipline, basic principles, and professional skills.

The ceremony was attended by senior police officers as well as domestic and international guests.
