5.3-Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Philippines: USGS

Beijing: An earthquake measuring 5.3 on the Richter scale struck 128 kilometres southeast of Pondaguitan in the Philippines on Saturday, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS).

The quake occurred at 1723 GMT, the USGS said.

The epicentre was located at 5.62 degrees north latitude and 127.07 degrees east longitude, at a depth of 74.5 kilometres beneath the Earth’s surface.

There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage. Authorities are monitoring the situation.
