275 Children Among 1,006 Killed in Floods: NDMA

Islamabad: At least 1,006 people have lost their lives — including 275 children, 568 men and 163 women — in flood-hit regions across the country following relentless torrential rains and flash floods, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) reported on Tuesday.

According to the latest figures, Punjab recorded the highest toll with 304 deaths, comprising 110 children, 143 men and 51 women. Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa followed with 504 fatalities, including 90 children, 338 men and 76 women.

Sindh reported 80 deaths, among them 35 children, 35 men and 10 women. In Balochistan, 30 people perished — 20 children, six men and four women — while Gilgit-Baltistan reported 41 deaths, including six children, 26 men and nine women.

Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJK) recorded 38 fatalities, among them nine children, 17 men and 12 women, whereas Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) registered nine deaths, including five children, three men and one woman.

The NDMA further confirmed that 1,063 people have been injured in flood-related incidents across the country. Punjab reported the most injuries at 661, affecting 200 children, 258 men and 203 women. In KP, 218 were injured, including 70 children, 99 men and 49 women.

Sindh reported 87 injuries, while Gilgit-Baltistan recorded 52, AJK 37, Balochistan five, and ICT three.

Authorities said rescue and relief operations are continuing as teams struggle to reach affected communities and assess the full scale of devastation caused by the deluge.
