Rawalpindi: Security forces killed 24 militants belonging to Indian proxy group Fitna Al Khwarij during two separate intelligence-based operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the military’s media wing said on Thursday.

According to a statement issued by the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), the first operation was carried out in Orakzai district after reports of militant presence in the area. During the operation, troops effectively engaged the militants’ hideout, resulting in an intense exchange of fire in which 14 militants were killed.

In a separate intelligence-based operation conducted in Khyber district, security forces engaged another group of militants. As a result of the firefight, 10 more militants were neutralised, the ISPR said.

The statement added that sanitisation operations are ongoing in both areas to eliminate any remaining militants.

The ISPR said the operations are part of Pakistan’s ongoing counterterrorism campaign under the vision of “Azm-e-Istehkam,” approved by the Federal Apex Committee under the National Action Plan.
