14 Killed, 16 Injured in Bus–Hiace Collision Near Jhang

Faisalabad/Jhang: At least 14 people were killed and 16 others sustained injuries in a tragic road accident involving a university bus and a Hiace van on the Jhang–Faisalabad Road near Kulli Faqeer on Wednesday.

According to rescue and police officials, the fatal collision occurred due to over-speeding when a bus belonging to the Veterinary University of Jhang, travelling to Lahore, collided head-on with a Hiace van coming from the opposite direction.

A Rescue 1122 spokesperson said the impact of the crash was severe, resulting in nine deaths on the spot, while several others succumbed to their injuries during transfer to hospital. Sixteen passengers were injured in the accident, including 10 who were critically wounded.

All seriously injured victims were shifted to DHQ Hospital Jhang, while six people with minor injuries were provided first aid at the scene.

The spokesperson confirmed that 14 people lost their lives.

Three of the deceased were identified as Sami Anjum (23), son of Allah Ditta, resident of Chak Kacha, Jhang; Ali (25), son of Abbas, resident of Waryam Wala, Shorkot; and Muhammad Rafiq (32), son of Allah Bakhsh, resident of Ghazi Abad. The identification process for the remaining victims was underway.

Among the critically injured were Ghulam Sabir (40), Kashif Ahmed Javed (20), Ghulam Murtaza (20), Saad Mustafa (17), Shan (19), Muhammad Sharif (25), and Naeem (15). Three injured individuals could not be identified immediately.

Those who sustained minor injuries were identified as Talha (23), Zeeshan (23), Muhammad Ashraf (42), Junaid Islam (23), Javed (23), and Nauman (25).

Following the incident, five Rescue 1122 emergency vehicles were dispatched to the site. The bodies and injured were shifted to DHQ Hospital Jhang after initial medical assistance.

RPO Faisalabad’s spokesperson Faisal Rizwan Bhatti confirmed that the accident involved a university bus bearing registration number EJ-1279 and a Hiace van LWC-7415. Senior police officers visited the site, collected evidence, and initiated legal proceedings to determine the exact cause of the accident.
