12 Martyred, Over Two Dozen Injured in Islamabad Blast

Islamabad: A suicide blast outside a kachehri court building in Islamabad on Tuesday left at least 12 people martyred and 27 others injured, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi confirmed.
Speaking to the media, Naqvi said the attack occurred at 12:39 pm. The suicide bomber had attempted to enter the courthouse but, failing to do so, detonated explosives targeting a police vehicle.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed authorities to provide immediate medical assistance to the injured. The interior minister added that identifying the attacker is the first priority and vowed to bring those responsible to justice, warning that involvement from foreign elements “will not be forgiven.”
According to Naqvi, the bomber had loitered at the site for 10–15 minutes before detonating the explosives as a police vehicle arrived. Authorities found the bomber’s head at the scene, confirming the use of explosives.
Security teams, including the Islamabad Police, forensic experts, and emergency responders, quickly arrived at the scene. The injured—comprising petitioners, lawyers, and court staff—were shifted to PIMS Hospital, where an emergency has been declared. Court proceedings at the building were suspended, and people inside were evacuated safely.

Sources later claimed the attack was carried out by India-backed terrorists in coordination with the Afghan Taliban’s proxy, Fitna al-Khawarij.
The Islamabad blast comes a day after an attack on Wana Cadet College in South Waziristan, where Indian-backed terrorists attempted to take hostages. Security forces killed two attackers and neutralized a third, while three people were martyred during the incident, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.
Naqvi confirmed that the attackers were in contact with handlers in Afghanistan and highlighted ongoing clearance operations in Wana.
Pakistan has seen a rise in cross-border terror attacks, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, since the Taliban’s takeover of Afghanistan in 2021. In the first eight months of 2025 alone, KP recorded over 600 terror incidents, claiming the lives of at least 138 civilians and 79 police personnel.
Tensions along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border escalated in October after Taliban-affiliated militants opened fire on Pakistani forces. Pakistan conducted retaliatory strikes along the border, killing over 200 militants, while 23 Pakistani soldiers were martyred. Following the strikes, both countries agreed to a ceasefire.
