Islamabad: The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee announced on Tuesday that the moon marking the beginning of Zulhajj 1446 AH was not sighted anywhere across Pakistan.

Consequently, the first day of Zulhajj will fall on Thursday, May 29, and Eid-ul-Azha will be observed on Saturday, June 7.

The announcement was made by Maulana Syed Abdul Khabir Azad, Chairman of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, following a meeting held in Islamabad to review moon-sighting reports. The session was attended by committee members and representatives from relevant government departments.

Zonal and district Ruet-e-Hilal Committees across the country, including provincial capitals, also held meetings. Despite extensive efforts, no credible moon sighting reports were received.

Addressing a press conference, Maulana Azad said, “Most parts of the country experienced overcast skies today, and no verified sightings were reported. Therefore, Eid-ul-Azha will be observed on June 7, by consensus.”

He highlighted the spiritual significance of Eid-ul-Azha and urged those financially able to perform Qurbani (sacrifice) in accordance with Islamic teachings.

Maulana Azad also praised the unity of the Pakistani nation in supporting the armed forces and government during recent national security challenges.

He expressed gratitude for what he described as a decisive victory in the conflict with India, emphasizing that the world now recognizes India’s role in initiating hostility.

He lauded Pakistan’s military response, stating it compelled India to retreat within three hours, showcasing courage and professionalism.

Addressing Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Maulana Azad warned against repeating aggressive acts, declaring Pakistan’s resolve is unshakable.

The chairman condemned terrorism and extremism, reaffirming support for security forces’ ongoing operations. He alleged India’s involvement in recent attacks, including the tragic incident in Khuzdar where children were targeted.

Expressing solidarity with oppressed Muslim communities, Maulana Azad prayed for the people of Palestine, Gaza, and Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, asking for divine protection and relief for those suffering.
