Young Star Aina Asif Breaks Silence on Trolls

Islamabad: Young Pakistani actress Aina Asif has opened up about the emotional toll of online criticism, revealing that negative comments often leave her in tears.
In a recent interview, the 16-year-old reflected on the difficulties of growing up in the spotlight. “Being a public figure means you have to be ready for criticism,” she said, adding that while she tries to stay strong, harsh remarks on social media deeply affect her mental health.
Asif began her career as a child model, appearing in TV commercials before making her acting debut in 2021 with the drama Pehli Si Mohabbat. She gained widespread recognition through roles in Hum Tum, Panjara, and Mayi Ri, where she played the lead character Qurat-ul-Ain “Ani” Habib. She is currently seen in the drama Parwarish.
Reflecting on her career, Asif shared that she was just 14 when she filmed Mayi Ri and is now portraying a more mature character at 16 in Parwarish. However, she noted that many social media users question her age, accusing her of hiding her real one.
“The trolling really hurts,” she admitted. “I can handle constructive criticism, but some of the negative comments make me cry.”
She also revealed being mocked for her looks and compared to cartoon characters. “People make fun of my appearance, as if being an actress means I have to meet their unrealistic beauty standards,” Asif said. “But acting is about talent. You can’t change how you look, and it’s unfair to be judged on that.”
Despite the negativity, Asif remains passionate about acting and committed to improving her skills. “I’m learning and growing with time,” she said. “I just wish people were a bit more compassionate.”
