News Desk
Islamabad: Russia, China, the United Nations, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Spain have strongly responded to US and Israeli attacks on Iran, urging restraint and a return to negotiations during an emergency session of the UN Security Council.
At the meeting, Russia’s delegate described the strikes as “aggression,” saying Iran had been “stabbed in the back.”
He dismissed US allegations against Tehran, noting that the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has never confirmed Iran was building nuclear weapons.
Comparing the situation to pre-Iraq war claims, the delegate criticized European countries for failing to condemn attacks on Iranian citizens engaged in negotiations and warned that attempts to mislead the international community would fail.
China’s delegate also addressed the council, urging all sides to avoid civilian casualties and calling for an immediate reduction in tensions. He emphasized the need to resume negotiations to prevent further escalation.

UN Secretary-General António Guterres condemned the US and Israeli attacks on Iran, citing the UN Charter’s security guarantees for all member states.
Guterres warned that Iran’s response was spreading instability across the region and stressed that a peaceful solution remained the only viable path forward, urging all parties to return to dialogue.
Saudi Arabia condemned Iranian missile attacks on Riyadh and eastern regions, stating that such actions were unjustifiable. The Saudi Foreign Ministry noted that Iran had been aware Saudi airspace or territory would not be used to target Iran.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan expressed deep concern over the escalation, describing attacks on Iran’s sovereignty as condemnable.

Erdoğan called for an immediate halt to bloodshed and said Turkey would intensify diplomatic efforts to bring all parties back to negotiations. However, he added that Iran’s drone and missile strikes on “brotherly Gulf countries” were also unacceptable.
Spain joined the chorus of condemnation, marking a notable policy stance against the US and Israel’s military actions.
Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez rejected the “unilateral military action,” calling it an escalation that threatens global stability.
Sanchez emphasized the need for de-escalation, adherence to international law, and a return to the dialogue table to find a lasting political solution, while also rejecting Iran’s retaliatory actions.
