Islamabad: You have often heard that 7 to 8 hours of sleep a day is essential to function optimally.
However, this is not the case for women, rather women need more than 8 hours of sleep so that they can function better and smarter throughout the day.
On the occasion of “World Sleep Day”, a past study conducted in the UK has come to the fore again, according to which women need more sleep than men.
Sleep is an essential part of human health and mental agility, the lack of which adversely affects human abilities, so generally people think that men need more sleep and rest, but this is not the case, rather women need more sleep than men. 20 minutes more sleep is required.
According to researchers, women’s brains work differently and harder throughout the day, so they need at least 20 minutes more sleep per day than men.
Experts emphasize that sleep is a cornerstone of both mental and physical well-being. A restful night’s sleep is crucial for optimal brain function, promoting cognitive performance, and enhancing overall health.
Adequate sleep not only supports cardiovascular health but also contributes to better digestion, improved skin and hair health, and increased longevity.
Furthermore, quality sleep plays a significant role in emotional regulation. Individuals who consistently experience good sleep are better equipped to manage their emotions effectively.
Studies suggest that those who prioritize sleep tend to have lower rates of anxiety and depression and demonstrate higher performance in their daily activities.
Conversely, chronic sleep deprivation poses serious health risks. Long-term lack of sleep is associated with an elevated risk of developing neurological disorders like dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.
Additionally, it increases susceptibility to conditions such as obesity, heart disease, and stroke.
Prioritizing sufficient and quality sleep is essential for maintaining both mental and physical health in the long run.
