Women’ Day Encourages Active Female Civic Participation: Farrah

Peshawar: International Women’s Day is an occasion to celebrate the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women, said KP Information Commission (KPIC) Chief Commissioner Farrah Hamid.
The chief commissioner said the day also marks a call to action for accelerating women’s participation in all areas of civic engagements. She was addressing an event at a local hotel in Peshawar on Wednesday.
The KPIC is encouraging women on this special day to exercise their right to information whenever necessary in order to equally participate in the province’s transparent governance system, Farrah Hamid added.

Farrah Hamid while talking about her strategy said, the commission is placing a particular emphasis on women’s participation in its next working plans to raise awareness on KP’s right to information law in the province.
This year’s Women’s Day is celebrated under the theme “DigitALL: Innovation and Technology” for gender equality.
According to United Nations Women, women make up only 22 per cent of artificial intelligence workers globally.
A global analysis of 133 AI systems across industries found that 44.2 per cent demonstrate gender bias. Moreover, a survey of women journalists from 125 countries found that 73 per cent had suffered online violence in the course of their work.
