Woman Injured in Acid Attack in Bahawalpur

Bahawalpur: A 30-year-old woman sustained serious burn injuries after an unidentified man threw acid on her while she was asleep at her home in Chak No. 110-DB, Yazman tehsil, on Saturday.

According to Abid, a spokesperson for the Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122), the victim, identified as Nadra, was resting in her room when the assailant entered the house, threw acid on her, and fled the scene. Hearing her cries, family members and neighbours rushed to her aid and immediately alerted the rescue service.

Rescue 1122 teams reached the spot and provided first aid before shifting the injured woman to Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) Hospital Yazman. She sustained burns on her abdomen, legs, and arms. Police have launched an investigation to identify and arrest the culprit.

Six Arrested; Liquor and Illegal Weapons Recovered in Gujrat

Police have arrested six suspects and recovered liquor and illegal weapons during a district-wide crackdown on criminal elements under the supervision of District Police Officer (DPO) Rana Umar Farooq.

According to a police spokesperson, Kharian Saddar Police arrested four suspects — Nisar Ahmad, Abdullah, Sajjad Ahmad, and Nasir Mahmood — and recovered 20 liters of liquor, a Kalashnikov rifle, and a 30-bore pistol from their possession.

Meanwhile, Guliana Police arrested two others, identified as Muhammad Bilal and Hammad Ali, and seized two pistols. Separate cases have been registered against all the accused, and further investigations are underway.
