Multan: Alpa police have arrested a woman and her accomplice for orchestrating a false rape accusation to extort money.

According to police sources, the accused, Zawar Bibi alias Rubina Mailsi, and her accomplice, Muhammad Irshad, initially filed a fabricated rape complaint against two men, Mazhar Abbas and Qurban Khan. However, they later withdrew their statements after allegedly receiving a hefty bribe.

Station House Officer (SHO) Muhammad Hanif Gujar and the investigating officer led the operation that exposed the fraudulent scheme. During the inquiry, Zawar Bibi and her witness, Muhammad Irshad, submitted an affidavit stating that the allegations were false. She also refused to undergo a DNA test, raising suspicions.

Further investigations revealed that Muhammad Riaz and Ghulam Yaseen, two individuals who were targeted, had paid Rs 570,000 to the accused under duress. Upon searching Zawar Bibi’s bag, police recovered the full amount, while Rs 800 and a mobile phone were found in Muhammad Irshad’s possession.

Authorities confirmed that Zawar Bibi had falsely filed a rape complaint, given a statement before a medical officer, and later retracted her claims after receiving the bribe.

A case has been registered against both suspects under Sections 2A-2B of the Anti-Rape Act 2021 and Section 213 of the Pakistan Penal Code. They are currently in custody, and further investigations are underway, police sources said.
