Will Never Work With Mahira Khan, Says Dramatist Khalil ur Rehman

Islamabad: Noted TV drama writer Khalil ur Rehman Qamar said he will never work with Mahira Khan again. Recently, he was a guest on Mohsin Abbas Haider’s show ‘Public Demand’ and revealed that there has been no patch up between Mahira and him.

He praised Khan’s acting and mentioned that she is a very good, talented and beautiful actress, but I will not be able to work with her.

Rehman further stated that people from the showbiz industry had tried to mediate between him and Mahira Khan, but it did not prove beneficial.

Drama writer added, “I am surprised and will continue to be surprised that the respect I had for Mahira Khan would in no way allow her to tweet such nonsense. I have said many times that they could call me and if they were upset with me, I would explain them. People understood these things later when they listened to me continuously.”

Qamar is a famous writer who prepared scripts for many famous dramas and movies that became popular in India apart from Pakistan. These dramas include ‘Mere Paas Tum Ho’, ‘Sadake Tumre’, ‘Punjab Nahi Jaon Gi’, etc.

He has been making statements against Mahira for the past 3 years since the writer used inappropriate language against human rights activist Marvi Sirmed in a TV show in March 2020, and Mahira Khan responded to his statement.

Taking a dig at Khalil, Khan wrote in her tweet that she was shocked by the words spoken by a person who mocks women on TV.

Later in April 2021, dramatist expressed regret for Khan’s tweet against him and said in an interview that her tweet was “inappropriate and shocking”.

After which playwright tweeted about actress and wrote that it was a sin to cast Mahira Khan in his old drama ‘Sadqay Tumhare’ and he will always be blamed for this sin.
