Why Is Deep Sea Descent More Difficult Than Space Travel?

Islamabad: Only a few people around the world have taken a recreational trip to the historic shipwreck of the Titanic which lies 3800 meters deep in the Atlantic Ocean.
It is not enough to have the financial means to travel deep sea but it is also very important to be familiar with tourist travel and know about the possible dangers.
According to a CNN report, Oceangate–a tourism and research company founded in 2009 to take tourists on a sightseeing trip– was offering an 8-day excursion to the wreck of the Titanic.
The company’s website stated that this once-in-a-lifetime adventure costs $250,000.Corporate Company TARA, Ink. Founding Partner Nick D’Annunzio stated, “I’ve seen rich people say that when it comes to experience, money doesn’t mean anything. They want to have an experience they’ll never forget.”
According to 2022 data from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, although people have been exploring the surface of the ocean for thousands of years, humans have managed to map only 20 percent of the ocean’s surface.
Researchers often say that traveling in space is easier than going to the bottom of the ocean.
According to the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI), while 12 astronauts have spent 300 hours on the moon, only three people have explored the depths of the ocean and spent three hours there.
“We have better maps of the Moon and Mars than Earth,” further said Dr Gene Feldman, who has spent more than 30 years at the space agency. There are a number of reasons why humans travel to the depths of the ocean to a very limited extent. However, going to the ocean has many challenges compared to space: the ocean is dark, almost nothing is visible, and the sunlight is absorbed very quickly underwater and more than a thousand meters below the surface. In addition, the temperature of the sea is extremely low.
What’s at the bottom of sea?
In Massachusetts, scientists were able to prove for the first time that there is life even at a depth of 19,685 feet in the ocean in 1948, informed WHOI.
The Titanic is about 12,500 feet below sea level; if the depth of the ocean is highlighted, scuba diving has managed to reach a depth of 1,900 feet in 2022.
While the world’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa, can only reach 2,717 feet into the sea, it is about 9,700 feet away from reaching the wreck of the Titanic.
