Karachi: Acclaimed filmmaker Mehreen Jabbar is bringing her much-anticipated series ‘Farar’ to audiences this Eid, with the six-episode drama scheduled to premiere on local streaming platform Begin from March 21.

The series, a modern reimagining of Jabbar’s own 1990s telefilm of the same name, signals a significant step in Pakistan’s evolving digital entertainment landscape, as it transitions from an international streaming rollout to a domestic release.

Originally developed under the Applause Entertainment–Zindagi South Asian content collaboration and produced for ZEE5, Farar now finds a new home with Pakistani viewers ahead of Eid festivities.

The ensemble cast features Sarwat Gilani, Tooba Siddiqui, Zahid Ahmed and Hina Khawaja Bayat, alongside Mariam Saleem, Maha Hasan and Saleem Mairaj. The script has been penned by Rida Bilal, known for projects like Zakham and Jaan E Jahan.

Set against the backdrop of Karachi’s fast-paced urban life, the series revolves around three women navigating personal struggles, ambitions and complex relationships. The narrative explores themes of friendship, identity and escape, as the protagonists grapple with societal pressures while seeking control over their lives.

A recently released trailer hints at an intense, character-driven storyline, blending emotional conflict with moments of resilience. With its tagline, “life is a mess, but at least the circle is solid,” the show positions itself as a contemporary tale of solidarity and survival.

With its Eid release, Farar is expected to draw attention not only for its star cast and storytelling but also as a key addition to Pakistan’s growing streaming content slate.
