WhatsApp to Introduce Spotify Song-Sharing in Status Updates
News Desk
Islamabad: WhatsApp is set to enhance its music-sharing experience with a new feature that will allow users to share Spotify tracks directly in their status updates.
How It Works
Spotted in the WhatsApp beta update for Android (version 2.25.8.3) on the Google Play Store, this feature will provide users with an additional option when sharing music from Spotify. Alongside the existing ability to send a song as a message to contacts or groups, users will soon be able to post it as a WhatsApp status.
When a song is shared via status, WhatsApp will generate a preview displaying the track title, artist name, and album cover. Additionally, viewers of the status update will see a ‘Play on Spotify’ button, enabling them to listen to the song directly on Spotify. This functionality mirrors the music-sharing feature in Instagram Stories, making song discovery more seamless.
Privacy & Security
WhatsApp emphasizes that the new feature will maintain user privacy, with status updates remaining protected by end-to-end encryption. Only selected contacts will have access to the shared music, ensuring no third party including WhatsApp can view it.
Expected Release
Currently in development, the feature has no official release date. However, it is expected to be included in a future WhatsApp update.
