WhatsApp Rolls Out Handy Media, Links Feature for Channels
News Desk
Islamabad: Meta-owned messaging platform WhatsApp has quietly introduced a new feature aimed at improving user experience on its Channels platform.
The latest addition allows users to explore and retrieve shared photographs, videos, GIFs, and links through a dedicated media and links section, significantly enhancing content accessibility.
According to WABetaInfo, the new feature is already available to select beta testers and functions much like the “starred messages” option in personal and group chats. Users can now bookmark specific channel updates for easy reference, saving them from the hassle of scrolling through lengthy update histories.
This development addresses a long-standing user concern: the lack of a streamlined way to access important media in busy channels. Previously, retrieving an older update—especially in channels that post frequent multimedia content—could be time-consuming and frustrating.
Now, by tapping into the media and links tab located in the channel details screen, users can instantly view all shared visual and multimedia content without needing to remember keywords or sift through entire message threads. The interface mirrors the one already available in personal and group chats, making the transition seamless for regular users.
The feature is expected to be especially useful for channels dedicated to news, public announcements, or frequent multimedia updates, ensuring that users never miss important information and can revisit key content anytime with just a few clicks.
While the feature is currently limited to beta users, its broader rollout is anticipated soon as part of WhatsApp’s continued efforts to enhance functionality and user convenience on its Channels service.
