WhatsApp Introduces Low Light Mode for Video Calls

News Desk

Islamabad: Meta-owned messaging app WhatsApp has launched a low light mode designed to enhance video call quality in dim lighting conditions.

This feature, included in a recent update, also allows users to apply filters and change backgrounds during video calls.

The low light mode improves video clarity and reduces image graininess, making it easier for users to connect in low-light environments.

To activate this feature, users simply need to tap the bulb icon during a video call. Currently, the low light mode is available on both iOS and Android versions of the app, but it has yet to be implemented in the web app.

How to Enable Low Light Mode on WhatsApp:

  • Open WhatsApp.
  • Initiate a video call.
  • Tap the bulb icon in the top right corner during the call.
  • If desired, you can turn off the low light mode at any time.
  • Custom Chat Themes Rolled Out for WhatsApp Users

In addition to the low light mode, WhatsApp has introduced a new feature that allows users to personalize their chat experience with custom themes.

According to WABetaInfo, this update is currently available to select beta users with WhatsApp version 2.24.21.34 for Android and version 24.20.71 for iOS.

Users enrolled in the Google Play Beta Program can choose from 22 different themes, each offering up to 20 color variations. The customization options allow users to modify both the chat background and the conversation colors.

The new “Chat Theme” settings page will enhance personalization, enabling users to apply a universal theme across all chats or set unique themes for specific conversations. Importantly, these themes will only be visible to the user who applies them, ensuring privacy for both parties.
