Islamabad: Pakistani singer Asim Azhar has announced his separation from model and actress Merub Ali, nearly three years after the couple went public with their engagement.

Taking to Instagram late last night, Azhar revealed that the decision to part ways was made “peacefully and mutually” after much consideration.

“After a great deal of thought and reflection, Merub and I have chosen to move forward on separate paths peacefully and mutually,” he wrote in his Instagram story.

He added, “While we shared meaningful moments and genuinely hoped for a future together, life sometimes takes its own course. We have the utmost respect for each other and the families involved, and always will.”

The “Jo Tu Na Mila” singer also appealed to fans and the public for privacy during this personal transition, stating, “We kindly ask for your understanding and privacy during this time, and hope this is met with the same grace with which it is being shared.”

Asim and Merub, both well-known names in Pakistan’s entertainment industry, had officially announced their engagement in March 2022, winning hearts across the country with their chemistry and public appearances.

News of their split has come as an unexpected development for many fans who had closely followed their relationship journey.
