Multan: Pakistan Test captain Shan Masood expressed satisfaction with his team’s hard-fought victory in the second Test against England but underscored the need for further development to stay competitive in international cricket.

Speaking to the media after the match on Friday, Masood highlighted the importance of adaptability and consistent performance. “We managed to take 20 wickets in this match, which was key to our success.

Although we haven’t played many Tests in Multan, we adapted well to the conditions,” he said. He noted Pakistan’s strategic shift from relying on seamers against Bangladesh to opting for spinners in this Test.

The captain acknowledged the significance of the victory, which came after a challenging period for the team. “This win was long overdue and very important for our team.

We need to consistently take 20 wickets in every match, regardless of conditions. While the spinning track helped us here, we must be prepared to adapt to different pitches,” Masood added.

Looking ahead to the next match in Rawalpindi, Masood expressed his preference for a spinning wicket but emphasized the importance of flexibility. “I haven’t seen the pitch in Rawalpindi yet, but we’ll assess the conditions and select the best possible combination.”

Masood credited spinners Noman Ali and Sajid Khan for their match-winning performances and shed light on the team’s selection strategy. “When the new selection committee came in, our primary focus was on how to take 20 wickets.

Noman and Sajid deserve immense credit for their efforts. To win in Test cricket, we must be willing to take risks.”

Despite the recent success, Masood remains focused on the challenges ahead, emphasizing the need for continued progress in both bowling and batting as the team prepares for the next encounter.
