Weather Alert: Rain, Thunderstorms Expected from June 20-23
News Desk
Islamabad: The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued an advisory urging precautionary measures as a new spell of rain, strong winds, and thunderstorms is expected to affect the upper and central parts of the country from June 20 to 23.
According to the advisory, regions likely to be impacted include Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The expected weather activity may include heavy rainfall, strong winds, dust storms, and thunderstorms, posing risks to vulnerable trees, mud houses, and poorly constructed buildings.
The NDMA has advised citizens to park their vehicles in covered or secure areas to avoid damage. It also warned that reduced visibility during dust storms and strong winds could lead to road accidents, urging the public to remain cautious and avoid unnecessary travel during inclement weather.
All relevant institutions have been directed to take necessary preparedness measures to handle any potential emergencies.
The public is encouraged to stay updated on weather conditions and risks through official channels, including the Pak NDMA Disaster Alert mobile application.
