WCL 2025: Three Indian Players Refuse to Play Against Pakistan
News Desk
London: In a significant development ahead of the highly anticipated World Championship of Legends (WCL) 2025 clash, three prominent Indian cricketers — Irfan Pathan, Yusuf Pathan, and Harbhajan Singh — have reportedly declined to participate in today’s match against the Pakistan Champions.
According to Indian media reports, the trio has opted out of the game citing concerns linked to the ongoing conflict situation involving Pakistan. The match is scheduled to take place tonight (July 20) at 8:30 pm PST.
Efforts are currently underway to persuade the players to reconsider their decision. However, their absence has reportedly created uncertainty within the India Champions camp, with team morale and match-day preparations said to be affected.
Meanwhile, sources within the Pakistan Champions squad confirmed that star all-rounder Shahid Afridi is nursing an injury and may not feature in the match. Despite this, team management stated that no formal objection or official communication had been received from the Indian side regarding Afridi’s inclusion or any other concerns.
“No written protest or official notice has been submitted by the Indian team,” said a team official, clarifying that the Pakistan Champions are proceeding with match preparations as scheduled.
