WASA On High Alert To Deal With Urban Flooding: MD

Rawalpindi: Following Friday’s rain, the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) Rawalpindi is placed on high alert to deal with urban flooding, said WASA Managing Director (MD).
He informed that the agency has made the necessary preparations to deal with a flash flood after twin cities Rawalpindi and Islamabad got a significant 27 mm of rain.
MD stated that according to rainfall gauging stations, 6 mm of rain was recorded at Saidpur Village, 27mm at PMD, 18mm at Shamsabad, and 3mm at Chaklala, while water level sensor data showed five feet at Kattarian and four at Gawalmandi.
WASA personnel are deployed in different city areas along with heavy machinery and the staff is present at Liaquat Bagh, Committee Chowk, Waris Khan Sadiqabad, and along Nullah Lai.
The water level in Nallah Lai is being monitored regularly and the drains of the Committee Chowk Underpass were clean a few days ago, he informed.
