WASA on High Alert to Address Flooding: MD

Islamabad: The Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) Rawalpindi has been put on high alert to manage urban flooding, announced Managing Director Muhammad Saleem Ashraf.

He stated that a rain emergency has been declared in Rawalpindi, with all necessary arrangements in place to handle potential flooding. Heavy machinery and personnel have been deployed across various areas, particularly low-lying regions, to ensure effective drainage of stagnant rainwater.

Ashraf also noted that Nullah Lai is under close monitoring. Today, the water level was recorded at 15 feet at Katarian and 11 feet at Gawalmandi Bridge. Despite the rainfall, traffic flow remains normal at the Committee Chowk underpass.

According to the Meteorological Department, rainfall measurements include 84 mm in Saidpur Village, 33 mm in Bokra, 37 mm at PMD, and 32 mm at Katcheri, as reported by the WASA spokesman.
