WASA Issues Final Warning to Defaulters: Pay Arrears by May 31

Rawalpindi: The Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) Rawalpindi has given defaulters a final opportunity to clear their arrears by May 31, as stated in a press release issued on Sunday.
A WASA spokesman reported that the Managing Director (MD) has instructed the relevant authorities to intensify efforts against defaulters.
The MD emphasized that any negligence by officials would not be tolerated and urged for maximum efforts to ensure complete recovery from defaulters.
Following directives from Director General Kinza Murtaza of the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA), the MD has mandated an accelerated campaign against WASA defaulters.
WASA, being a self-sustaining institution that covers its expenses from its own resources, stressed the importance of revenue recovery, warning officials that any shortcomings would be unacceptable.
The MD has issued a special ultimatum for officers to achieve 100 percent arrears recovery from all defaulters. The Revenue Director and Deputy Directors have been ordered to immediately disconnect services for non-paying customers.
Additionally, the Senior Special Magistrate has reported the issuance of arrest warrants against four defaulters for non-payment.
After the May 31 deadline, WASA will ban late fees and installment payments on bills. Strict legal actions, including property seizures, arrests, and disconnection of water and sewage services, will be enforced against defaulters.
The spokesman urged citizens to pay their outstanding bills promptly to avoid legal consequences and stated that the crackdown will continue until complete recovery is achieved.
