Viral Video Leads to Three Arrests in Rawalpindi

Rawalpindi:Police in Rawalpindi on Tuesday arrested three suspects accused of assaulting a girl and forcibly cutting her hair after a video of the incident went viral on social media.
The footage showed a man cutting the girl’s hair with scissors while others looked on. A second video later surfaced in which the purported victim confirmed the incident and called for strict action against those involved.
Initially, Islamabad Police traced the girl and recorded her statement. She confirmed that the incident had occurred within the jurisdiction of Rawalpindi, as originally suggested in social media reports.

Following public outrage, Islamabad Police launched raids at multiple locations and detained several men seen in the viral clip. However, during interrogation it emerged that the incident had taken place in Rawalpindi.
The detainees were subsequently handed over to Rawalpindi Police, and a case was registered at Naseerabad Police Station based on the victim’s statement.
According to Rawalpindi Police, the victim had not previously reported the incident. After establishing contact, investigators began legal proceedings on her formal complaint. She stated that the assault occurred about one and a half months ago in Christian Colony, where the suspects filmed the act and later uploaded it online.
Police said three suspects have been taken into custody as part of the ongoing investigation. Five individuals — Nazar alias Arman Khan, Muhammad Anees, Jaleel, Jabar Khan, and an unidentified accomplice — have been nominated in the FIR.
