Vaibhav Suryavanshi Smashes 171 as India Crush UAE
News Desk
Islamabad: India’s teenage batting sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi continued his meteoric rise on Friday, hammering a breathtaking 95-ball 171 to power India Under-19s to a massive 234-run victory over UAE in the Under-19 Asia Cup opener.
Suryavanshi, who is still a month shy of turning 15, fell just six runs short of Ambati Rayudu’s long-standing Indian youth one-day record of 177 set against England in 2002.
His whirlwind knock featured nine fours and a staggering 14 sixes, before he was bowled attempting a paddle sweep in the 33rd over. India piled up a commanding 433 for 6 after being asked to bat first, while UAE could only muster 199 for 7 in reply. Suryavanshi was named Player of the Match.
The young prodigy has been in sensational form in recent months. Just last month, he blasted a 42-ball 144 against UAE at the Rising Stars Asia Cup in Doha — the joint-third-fastest T20 century by an Indian and the joint-sixth-fastest in all men’s T20s, reaching his ton off only 32 balls.

Suryavanshi, almost certain to feature in next month’s Under-19 World Cup in Namibia and Zimbabwe, also registered an unbeaten 61-ball 108 in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy this year, becoming the youngest century-maker in the tournament’s history.
His breakthrough came in 2025, when he stunned the cricketing world by becoming the youngest player ever to hit an IPL century — a blistering 101 off 38 balls for Rajasthan Royals against Gujarat Titans.
The feat came just months after he made headlines as the youngest-ever pick in an IPL auction at age 13. He went on to score 252 runs in seven matches that season at a strike rate of 206.55.
Following the IPL, Suryavanshi represented India Under-19s on tours to England and Australia. He hit a 78-ball century in a four-day fixture in Brisbane and finished as the second-highest run-scorer in the multi-day series against Australia Under-19s. Against England’s Under-19 side, he had earlier amassed 355 runs at a strike rate of 174.01.
With his latest heroics in the Asia Cup, the young batting prodigy has once again underlined why he is widely regarded as India’s next big cricketing star.
