Usman Reveals Why He Chooses to Work Only in Islamabad

Islamabad: Popular Pakistani actor and director Usman Mukhtar has revealed that his decision to work exclusively on Islamabad-based projects stems from his commitment to caring for his ailing mother.
During a recent Instagram Q&A session, the Sabaat actor shared that his mother suffers from dementia and requires constant care, which is why he prefers to stay close to home rather than take on projects in other cities.
“Because my mother lives here, and she has dementia. She’s bedridden and needs constant supervision. Since dramas often take several months to shoot, I don’t think it’s wise for me to be away from her for that long,” Mukhtar wrote in response to a fan’s question.
Known for his acclaimed performances in dramas such as Anaa, Sabaat, Jafaa, and his current project Pamaal opposite Saba Qamar — all filmed in Islamabad — Mukhtar has earned a reputation for his thoughtful performances and professionalism.
Despite offers from major production centers like Karachi and Lahore, he has deliberately limited his work to the capital city to prioritize his family responsibilities.
Mukhtar frequently shares glimpses of his close relationship with his mother on social media, posting heartfelt tributes on occasions such as her birthday, Mother’s Day, and Eid. Fans have often praised his devotion and compassion, which they say reflect in both his personal and professional life.
While audiences may wish to see more of him on screen, Mukhtar’s decision to put family first has further strengthened his image as one of the industry’s most grounded and respected artists.
