US Silent on Pakistan’s Coalition Government

Islamabad: Matthew Miller, spokesperson for the US State Department, declined to provide a statement regarding the formation of a coalition government in Pakistan, emphasizing that decisions regarding political unity within any country are sovereign matters for that nation.
Miller stressed the importance of upholding freedom of expression in Pakistan and expressed a desire to see it respected.
He refrained from commenting on the coalition government until its formation, reiterating that political alliances are internal affairs for each country.
Miller also emphasised the need for any allegations of irregularities to be thoroughly investigated.
The spokesperson also expressed concerns regarding restrictions on freedom of expression in Pakistan, specifically mentioning issues such as internet and social media censorship.
