US and China Must ‘Get Along,’ Xi Tells Trump

Beijing: In a message to US president-elect Donald Trump, Chinese President Xi Jinping emphasized the importance of cooperation between the United States and China, urging both countries to find a way to “get along.”
This appeal, broadcasted by state media, highlights Xi’s view that “history has shown that China and the United States benefit from cooperation and suffer from confrontation.”
Xi stressed that a stable, healthy, and sustainable China-US relationship aligns with the interests of both nations and meets the expectations of the international community. He called for both nations to strengthen dialogue, improve communication, and effectively manage their differences to pave a way forward in a “new era,” benefiting not only both countries but also the world.
Chinese Vice President Han Zheng also extended congratulations to US Vice President-elect JD Vance, reflecting China’s acknowledgment of the incoming administration and desire for continued diplomatic engagement.
