Islamabad: In a tragic incident, unidentified gunmen shot and killed seven laborers in Khudabadan, a locality in Panjgur District of Balochistan, in the early hours of Sunday.
According to police officials, the laborers, originally from Punjab, were staying in a workers’ quarter when armed assailants stormed the premises and opened fire, killing them on the spot, as reported by PTV News.
Authorities have cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to locate the attackers. Meanwhile, the local police have initiated an investigation to determine the motive behind the brutal attack.
No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack. However, the separatist militant group, the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), has previously taken responsibility for targeting laborers from Punjab.
Last month, BLA militants claimed responsibility for killing at least 23 Punjab residents in Balochistan’s Musakhel district. The militants reportedly forced the victims out of their vehicles, confirmed their identities, and then shot them.
On the same day, simultaneous attacks were carried out, resulting in over 50 deaths in one of the most deadly incidents in Balochistan in recent years. The militants also destroyed a key railway bridge, disrupting the connection between the southwestern province and the rest of the country.
