UNFPA To Support Human Capital Development Through Skills-Based Education

Islamabad: The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) will contribute to human capital development in Pakistan by promoting life skills-based education both in and out of schools, fostering youth leadership for innovation, and investing in youth-led initiatives to uphold young people’s rights.
This initiative aligns with the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD) Programme of Action, the ICPD+25 commitments, and the Family Planning 2030 national targets, according to a report released by the UNFPA on Thursday.
As part of the program, the UNFPA will integrate reproductive health services into the national universal health coverage framework, prioritizing national ownership and strengthening national and sub-national institutions and accountability systems.
The report further highlighted that the country program will support reviews of national policies, legislation, and action plans concerning sexual and reproductive health, gender equality, child marriage, and youth and women’s empowerment to identify and address implementation challenges.
By building on recent policy and legislative reforms that promote gender equality and combat gender-based violence, the program will also aim to enhance institutional capacities and systems for effectively implementing policies and legal frameworks, the report revealed.
