Peshawar: Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa has gained global recognition as UNESCO designates Galiyat in Abbottabad and Bashqar Garam Chashma in Chitral as Biosphere Reserves, Adviser to the Chief Minister on Information and Public Relations Muhammad Ali Saif announced on Friday.
He stated that the designation acknowledges these sites for their rich biodiversity, protected wildlife, forests, and sustainable ecosystems. Saif highlighted that local communities in these areas have long practiced a harmonious way of life with nature, making them ideal models for conservation and sustainable development.
Calling it a historic milestone, he said the recognition reaffirms the KP government’s commitment to environmental conservation, sustainable growth, and scientific research. “The inclusion of these sites in UNESCO’s global list is a great honor for the province and a testament to its rich natural heritage,” he added.
