Under Safe City Project: 530 More Cameras Installed to Ensure High Vigilance in Islamabad
Islamabad: The Islamabad Safe City Project has been expanded through the installation of 530 more cameras and the repair of 487 cameras that were shut down due to construction work and fibre cuts. This will ensure greater online monitoring and aid in the reduction of crime in the city.
“According to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s vision, efforts are being made to secure the Capital as the Islamabad Safe City Project is being reorganised and made more effective,” the police said on Thursday.
In order to broaden the scope of the project, DIG Safe City Romail Akram and his staff have been working day and night, as instructed by Minister for Interior Rana Sanaullah Khan.
Similarly, 530 new cameras have been set up all around the district, including 50 cameras at Islamabad’s entrances and exits. The fibre of Safe City within a 100-kilometer radius has also been repaired. Six out of Safe City’s 20 LTE towers that were damaged have been rendered functional.
Similar to this, 48 CDA cameras have been added to Safe City Islamabad, helping CDA with new projects. On the green, orange, and blue lines of CDA’s bus system, Safe City has installed cameras.
Additionally, work is being done to link the cameras at the toll booths along the N5 Motorway, the F-10 Markaz, the Shifa International Hospital, as well as other food and business hubs and shopping centres, with Safe City.
The e-Challan system, which had been inactive for a while, has been reopened by Safe City Islamabad. Pucar 15, Eagle Squad, and the Safe City Supervisory structure have all gathered under one roof to monitor the crime situation.
Additionally, a long-delayed phase of connecting the Safe City initiative with the Punjab Excise database has already been completed.
Safe City and Eagle Squad have partnered to enhance Eagle Squad’s performance and guarantee quick response in the event of an emergency.
In the past five months, Safe City has fielded 3,88,761 calls, and 570 significant events have been covered by drone teams and 260 by smart cars.
“The Islamabad Safe City project has been improved and will soon cover the entirety of the federal capital,” stated Inspector General of Police (IGP) Akbar Nasir Khan.
According to him, Safe City Islamabad houses all of Islamabad’s emergency services and they operate effectively there. The Project would serve as Pakistan’s best future example.
The IGP expressed his gratitude to Romil Akram and his entire staff for their tireless efforts. Agencies
