UK Introduces New Extremism Definition

Islamabad:  The UK has introduced a revised definition of extremism, set to take immediate effect.

This new definition encompasses actions such as denying or obstructing the basic rights and freedoms of others, as well as efforts to undermine the country’s liberal parliamentary democratic system and democratic rights.

It also aims to restrict government funding to organizations advocating violent or intolerant ideologies.

Communities Secretary Michael Gove has highlighted the need for this updated definition to address the rise in anti-Muslim and anti-Jewish sentiments.

However, the Muslim Council of Britain has criticized the definition, expressing concerns that it could unfairly target the Muslim community.

Meanwhile, the Stop the War Coalition has called upon all political parties to denounce and oppose Michael Gove’s stance.
