UAE Removed from Money Laundering ‘Gray List’

News Desk

Islamabad: The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has achieved a significant milestone by being removed from the ‘grey list’ of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF).

Media reports indicate that this removal comes because of substantial reform progress made by the UAE.

Previously, the UAE had been added to FATF’s grey list in 2022. However, after a thorough and comprehensive review, FATF decided to remove the UAE from this list during a three-day meeting held in Paris.

The decision reflects the UAE’s commitment to implementing stringent measures to combat money laundering and prevent the financing of terrorism, as well as the proliferation of weapons.

The UAE has demonstrated its dedication to enhancing its regulatory framework by enacting new regulations aimed at preventing financial crimes.

Moreover, the establishment of an anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism agency underscores the UAE’s proactive approach in addressing these critical issues.

This development not only showcases the UAE’s determination to strengthen its financial system but also signifies its compliance with international standards set forth by FATF.
