UAE Records Highest May Temperature on Record at 50.4°C

Dubai: The United Arab Emirates on Friday recorded its highest temperature for the month of May since it began keeping records in 2003, reaching a searing 50.4°C in Al Shawamekh, Abu Dhabi, according to the National Center of Meteorology (NCM).

“The highest temperature recorded over the country today is 50.4°C in Al Shawamekh (Abu Dhabi) at 14:30 UAE local time,” the NCM announced in a post on social media platform X.

“This is the highest temperature we’ve ever recorded (for May) since we started keeping records in 2003,” an NCM official told AFP.

The previous record for May was 50.2°C, registered in 2009.
