UAE President Arrives in Islamabad for First Official Visit
News Desk
Islamabad: United Arab Emirates (UAE) President and Ruler of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, is set to arrive in Islamabad today (Friday) on his first official visit to Pakistan at the invitation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. He will be accompanied by a high-level delegation.
According to the Foreign Office (FO), the visit will mark Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed’s first official engagement with Pakistan as UAE President, following a private trip to the country earlier this year in January.
During the visit, the UAE President is scheduled to hold formal talks with Prime Minister Sharif, during which the two leaders will review the entire spectrum of bilateral relations and exchange views on regional and international issues of mutual interest.
“The visit of His Highness reflects the depth of bilateral relations between the two countries, and the shared commitment of both sides to further enhancing collaboration in key areas, including trade, investment, energy, development, and regional stability,” the FO communique stated.
The visit is expected to provide an important opportunity to strengthen the longstanding brotherly ties between Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates.
In view of the visit, a public holiday has been declared in Islamabad. The Pakistan Secretariat and all federal institutions within the capital will remain closed, along with the Senate and National Assembly secretariats, courts, and Islamabad district courts. The Federal Constitutional Court has also canceled its cause list for the day.
However, banks and essential service offices—including those of the Capital Development Authority, police, and Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited—will continue to operate as usual.
