Islamabad: The United States has indicated that former President Donald Trump could play a mediating role in resolving the Kashmir conflict, amid renewed tensions between Pakistan and India following a deadly attack in Pahalgam.

Speaking at the State Department’s weekly press briefing, spokesperson Tammy Bruce stated, “President Trump has consistently shown readiness to address generational disputes between nations—Kashmir is no exception.”

She added that Trump has a record of bringing together leaders who were previously unwilling to engage in dialogue, and it would not be surprising if he attempted to mediate the long-standing Kashmir issue.

The remarks come as Pakistan intensifies its diplomatic outreach to counter India’s claims linking Islamabad to the April 22 attack, an allegation Pakistan has strongly denied.

Last week, a high-level Pakistani parliamentary delegation led by PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari held meetings with US officials, including Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Allison Hooker. Bruce confirmed the engagement and said the discussions focused on bilateral ties and regional peace efforts.

The delegation’s visit is part of a broader diplomatic initiative by Pakistan, with upcoming stops in London and Brussels aimed at presenting Islamabad’s stance on the Kashmir dispute to international stakeholders.
