Trump Claims Iran’s Khamenei Killed; Tehran Denies Reports
News Desk
Washington/Tehran: US President Donald Trump has claimed that Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has been killed, a statement that was immediately denied by Iranian authorities, further escalating tensions in the region.
In a social media post, President Trump declared that Khamenei had been killed, describing it as “a great opportunity for the Iranian people to take back their country.” He added that Iranian forces and police were no longer willing to fight and characterized the reported death as “justice not only for the Iranian people but also for the world.”
The US president said military operations would continue, stating that Iran would be heavily bombed until strategic objectives were achieved. He claimed that Khamenei and his associates “could not defeat our intelligence and tracking systems” and that joint operations with Israel had left them unable to respond. Trump also remarked that “those who made most of the decisions in Iran are now dead,” adding that reports of Khamenei’s death appeared credible.

According to US and Israeli officials cited by international media, Khamenei’s body was allegedly discovered in an underground bunker, with dozens of close associates reportedly killed in the strikes. Unverified claims suggested that his son-in-law and daughter-in-law were also among the casualties.
Israeli media reported that Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, former President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, and Iranian Armed Forces Chief of Staff Mohammad Bagheri were targeted. Reports further indicated that Ali Shamkhani, an adviser to the Supreme Leader, and senior naval commander Ali Reza were also targeted in the attacks.
British media outlets, quoting Israeli officials, similarly reported that Khamenei’s body had been found.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that there were indications the Iranian Supreme Leader might no longer be alive, though he acknowledged that his death had not been officially confirmed. Netanyahu also claimed that the commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps had been killed.

Israeli media alleged that approximately 30 bombs were dropped on Khamenei’s compound, which was reportedly destroyed, along with senior nuclear officials. The reports suggested that thousands more targets across Iran could be struck in the coming days.
However, Iran’s Foreign Ministry strongly rejected the claims, asserting that Supreme Leader Khamenei and President Pezeshkian were “safe and well” and that the Supreme Leader was continuing to command operations. Khamenei’s office accused adversaries of engaging in psychological warfare.
Iran’s National Security Secretary Ali Larijani warned that “the Americans and the criminal Zionists will be forced to repent” and would be taught “an unforgettable lesson.”
Meanwhile, a Russian delegate described the developments as an act of aggression, stating that Iran had been “stabbed in the back.”
With sharply conflicting claims and no independent confirmation available, uncertainty over the fate of Iran’s Supreme Leader has further heightened instability in the region.
