Tribal Clash in Kurram District Claims 11 Lives, Leaves 6 Injured
News Desk
Islamabad: In a tragic incident near the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, 11 people were killed and six others injured in a tribal clash in the Kunj Alizai mountains and on the roads of Kurram District on Saturday.
Security forces and a large contingent of police were immediately deployed to the area to investigate the deadly shooting. The injured were quickly transported to the hospital for treatment.
Police officials confirmed that the district remained tense after the armed confrontation between the Maqbal and Tori tribes earlier in the day. Authorities have initiated measures to secure key routes and bring the situation under control.
Former MNA and jirga member Pir Haider Ali Shah expressed regret over the violence, pointing out that peace agreements were already in place between the tribes involved.
This latest conflict follows a series of violent incidents in the region. Last month, 46 people were killed and nearly 100 others injured in a prolonged dispute over land. In July, another clash resulted in 49 fatalities.
In September, the district administration engaged a local jirga to mediate negotiations between the rival tribes. The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has also established a land commission to address these ongoing land disputes.
