Mumbai: The trailer of the upcoming Bollywood action film Dhondahar: The Revenge has been released, drawing attention for its storyline reportedly inspired by the gang wars of Karachi’s Lyari area.
The film stars Ranveer Singh in the lead role and is being described as a major big-screen comeback for the actor. It is directed, written, and produced by Aditya Dhar.
According to the producers, the movie will hit theaters on March 19 to coincide with Eid-ul-Fitr. To reach a wider audience, the film will be released in five languages: Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada.
The newly released trailer, which runs for two minutes and twenty-five seconds, opens with the character Ajay Sanyal, played by R. Madhavan, receiving threats from terrorists. As tensions escalate and attempts are made to undermine the country, Ranveer Singh appears as Hamza Ali Mazari, confronting the militants in a series of high-intensity action sequences.
Set in narrow streets resembling Lyari’s landscape, the trailer depicts Hamza Ali Mazari battling armed groups while raising a central question about who will emerge as the new leader of the area.
Producers say the sequel will go beyond a conventional spy thriller by exploring personal conflicts and hidden identities, adding emotional depth to the action-driven storyline.
Another highlight of the film is that Ranveer Singh will appear in two different roles, promising a layered performance for audiences.
With its fast-paced action, dramatic narrative, and a controversial backdrop inspired by Karachi’s Lyari gang wars, Dhondahar: The Revenge has already become one of the most talked-about upcoming Bollywood releases of the season.
