Trailblazing STEM Summit Inspires Women Leaders

Rawalpindi: The Student Affairs Office at Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU) hosted a groundbreaking summit titled “Trailblazing the STEM: A Journey of Leadership and Legacy.”
The event, organized in collaboration with the Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World (OWSD), highlighted the achievements of women in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) and inspired the next generation of students to pursue impactful careers in these fields.
An interactive exhibition wall showcased the legacies and contributions of influential women in STEM, while outstanding students from the Departments of Biotechnology, Environmental Sciences, Software Engineering, Mathematics, and Computer Sciences shared their journeys, motivating their peers with their accomplishments and aspirations.
The summit featured a distinguished panel discussion with prominent voices in STEM, including:
Dr Bushra Mirza (PoP, T.I) – Vice Chancellor, FJWU
Dr Bina Siddique (S.I, T.I) – President, OWSD
Dr Azra Khanum – Vice President, OWSD, and Ex-Dean, Faculty of Science, PMAS Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi
Dr Farida Tahir – Professor of Physics, COMSATS
Dr Sitwat – Institute of Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering, Karachi
Moderated by Dr Saima Saleem, Secretary of OWSD, the session provided a platform for panellists to share their inspiring stories, strategies for overcoming gender barriers, and insights into building successful careers in STEM.
A highlight of the summit was a video presentation showcasing FJWU’s STEM faculty’s groundbreaking research, prestigious awards, and innovative teaching methods, underscoring the university’s commitment to academic excellence and innovation.
The event celebrated leadership, legacy, and innovation, reaffirming FJWU’s dedication to empowering women to lead and thrive in STEM disciplines. The summit concluded with resounding applause, marking a significant milestone in inspiring women to excel in the STEM field.
